Several lawmakers and civil rights advocates criticized US President Donald Trump’s supporter Laura Loomer on Monday for her racist remarks directed at Democratic socialist Florida State Representative Angie Nixon, along with other notable black politicians and a Supreme Court justice.
“Angie Nixon is a ghetto, black, communist,” Loomer, a right-wing blogger and conspiracy theorist who supports Trump, stated on X/Twitter on Monday, further defending her earlier similar comments that had drawn significant backlash.
On Friday, she labeled Nixon, US Representatives Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley, former US Representative Cori Bush, and US Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson – all of whom are black women – as “ghetto, entitled, race-obsessed, destructive black BITCHES who are completely unfit for the power they hold.”
Loomer has frequently made anti-Muslim statements as well. These have included calls to ban Muslims from holding office in the US and advocating for the deportation of “all Muslims from America.”
“You attack and insult Black women because you believe peddling racism is good for your clicks and your business model,” said Maryland Governor Wes Moore in response to Loomer’s comments.
US House of Representatives Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries referred to Loomer as a “stone-cold racist.”
Loomer has been one of the Republican president’s staunchest supporters and is known to have his attention.
“Black women should NEVER have to endure such hateful and degrading rhetoric for daring to lead,” prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump expressed on Monday.
The Council on American Islamic Relations stated that Loomer’s comments “are the very definition of anti-Black racism.”
