Toronto police have announced that two additional individuals face charges linked to an investigation on willful promotion of hatred, stemming from a protest aimed at the Jewish community earlier this year.

The demonstration took place in the Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West area on March 15 in the afternoon.

Officers claim several individuals went to a storage locker that day to retrieve anti-Semitic signs, then joined other protesters at the demonstration where they displayed these signs in front of bystanders, including supporters of Israel who were present in the same vicinity.

The accused reportedly shouted offensive slurs as they marched toward those supporting Israel.

In April and June, six people were charged with willful promotion of hatred and public incitement of hatred. Three co-accused individuals also faced charges for disguise with intent.

“This is an example of what we mean when we say that arrests and charges can come at any time after an incident,” Demkiw said at the beginning of June when announcing the arrests.

“We will continue to be relentless in following the evidence to hold those who commit criminal acts of hate accountable.”

An update shared on Saturday revealed that Toronto police executed a search warrant and arrested two more individuals as part of this ongoing investigation.

Daniela Bonamico and Shahram Nayeb-Yazdi have been charged with willful promotion of hatred and public incitement of hatred. They were set to appear in a Toronto bail court on Saturday.

The allegations against these individuals have not yet been proven in court.
