Toronto police are offering a cash reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of a man who reportedly shot a security officer during a robbery at Fairview Mall last week.
Kyle Douglas Prouse, 53, is being sought in connection with several robberies and break-ins that have taken place since 2023 at banks and jewelry stores across Ontario and Quebec, according to a news release from Toronto police on Monday.
The latest incident occurred Tuesday morning at North York’s Fairview Mall, where Prouse allegedly held up a jewelry store and shot a member of the security team who confronted him. The officer was hospitalized with serious injuries but has since stabilized.

The suspect fled the scene in a white van heading south on Don Mills Road, according to police. That van was later found near Shaughnessy Boulevard and George Henry Boulevard. The suspect then escaped in a black Honda Accord, police reported.
In an earlier statement, authorities described Prouse as a white man wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up, grey pants, a blue baseball cap, a white medical mask, and black shoes during the robbery. They noted there were flecks of white paint on his clothing.
Prouse is originally from Montreal but also has connections to Toronto and Vancouver, according to police.
The cash reward offered by law enforcement will be available until June 30 as stated in the release.
