A man from Brampton, Ontario, has been charged with dangerous operation after his jet ski reportedly hit a lifeguard patrol vessel in the Scarborough Bluffs.

The incident occurred on Thursday while a City of Toronto lifeguard was on duty in a designated swim area, as stated in a news release from the Toronto Police Service.

According to investigators, the jet ski entered the swim zone and struck the lifeguard’s boat, causing the lifeguard to fall into the water.

The lifeguard sustained minor injuries, police confirmed.

Investigators claim that the operator of the jet ski continued riding until another lifeguard told him to return to shore.

The Marine Unit of Toronto police arrived at the scene, looked into the collision, and arrested the driver.

A 20-year-old man from Brampton has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance. He is set to appear in court on August 25.

Police are reminding boaters and personal watercraft users to follow posted rules, keep safe speeds, and stay away from designated swimming spots.
