Kyle Lowry spent part of his weekend in a city filled with wonderful memories.
Now playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, Lowry made his way back to familiar territory for a Sunday game against his former team, the Toronto Raptors, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario.
Even though he’s not quite the player he was during his prime, Lowry still draws attention whenever he comes north of the border, and this matchup with the Raptors was no exception.
Before the game started, the 39-year-old Lowry caught everyone’s eye when he arrived at the arena wearing an Auston Matthews jersey as a nod to the Toronto Maple Leafs superstar forward.

Though he’s originally from Philly, Lowry’s basketball heart is tied to Toronto. He played there from the 2012-13 season until the 2020-21 campaign. He earned all six of his NBA All-Star selections while with the Raptors and achieved his biggest NBA success in 2019 when he helped lead Canada’s only franchise to its first-ever NBA championship. That win satisfied Toronto’s craving for a league title that Matthews and the Maple Leafs are still chasing in the NHL.
As for how he performed during this game, Lowry didn’t step onto the court in Philadelphia’s narrow 116-115 overtime loss to Toronto.
