Peel Regional Police report that seven individuals have been charged in relation to a fatal home invasion that occurred in October 2024, resulting in the death of a 55-year-old man from Mississauga, Ont., following an altercation.

According to police, on Oct. 1, 2024, gunshots were heard at a residence near Joan Drive and Central Parkway Drive around 3:40 a. m. They allege that four masked intruders broke into the home and confronted those inside, demanding cash and valuables.

During the encounter, one of the homeowners, Ruo Zhou Wei, aged 55, was shot. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Additionally, two other individuals sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening conditions.

Seven suspects were taken into custody, which includes three men in their twenties – Sonam Wangchuk (25), Muhammad Rahimullah (21), and Tenzin Lama (21) – who face charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder using a firearm.

The remaining three – Kang Lu (69), Kwok Chik (65), and Xi Chen (64) – are facing manslaughter charges.

A seventh suspect named Tenzin Jungney (21) is facing multiple firearm-related offenses including possession and careless storage.

“These crimes cause profound and lasting trauma for families and undermine our community’s sense of safety. Every resident deserves to feel secure in their home,” Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich said.

“This investigation reflects the dedication of our officers and the critical support of our government partners in ensuring investigations like this are properly resourced and those responsible for horrific crimes are held accountable.”
