In June, the town approved selling five acres of VIP Phase II lands for just over $1 million. The sale was contingent on Wise Line Tools qualifying for property tax rebates. The rebate plan starts with a full rebate in Year 1 and decreases by 20 percent each subsequent year until full property taxes are payable in Year 6.
“This company has been successful, it’s going to be growing in Tillsonburg,” said Councillor Bob Parsons, mentioning that Wise Line Tools plans to hire around 50 employees.
“That’s good for Tillsonburg, and I congratulate the company.”
Pedestrian crossover
A pedestrian crossover along with a rapid flashing beacon will be set up at the intersection of the Trans Canada Trail and Broadway Street. Earlier this year, staff were tasked with looking into upgrading crossovers throughout town to add more flashing beacons.
“We feel the addition of the rectangular rapid flashing beacons would present a more visible awareness of a pedestrian intending to cross, which a driver may more readily take note and stop their vehicle,” said a report from Richard Sparham, manager of public works.

Health care recruitment funds
Tillsonburg town council will support a staff application to the Rural Ontario Development (ROD) Program amounting to $60,000 for the Tillsonburg Health Care Recruitment Strategy project. Half of what’s needed will be included in the budget for special projects in 2026. The ROD Program is managed by the province and aims to provide cost-sharing funds for initiatives that assist rural communities. p >
Three-way stop to remain
A three-way stop will become permanent at Baldwin Street and Wilson Avenue. In early August, town staff set up a temporary three-way stop while Kinsmen Bridge was being reconstructed. Council supported staff’s recommendation that this signage should stay put since it cost less than $5,000.
