Hundreds of people took part in the inaugural Running With the Bulls event in Tillsonburg on Saturday.

TILLSONBURG – The first ever Running with the Bulls in Tillsonburg was a fantastic success!

Director Tamara Bull mentioned that hundreds of participants joined the run along the Trans Canada Trail this past Saturday.

“We had 222 registered runners for the event, but we easily saw over 300 people involved because many parents signed up their kids for the 1K kiddie trot without registering themselves. So, it was incredible to see so many there!”

She wants to give a special mention to Tom Elliott from Brantford, who bravely tackled the 10K at 88 years old.

“He asked if he could start a bit early since he’s slower, and I made sure everyone on the trail who could cheer helped encourage him by name. I can only hope that when I’m 88 I can even walk 1K, let alone do a full 10K!”

The event has already raised over $15,000 and is still counting, with a professional photographer selling photos from that day. Bull stated that all funds will go directly to local families facing financial difficulties due to cancer diagnoses.

“One person applied saying they can’t afford hearing aids because of treatment costs, so I can assist with that. Another enthusiastic runner expressed that race fees aren’t manageable right now with their expenses, so I’ll help them run another race.”

All funds will be allocated within the next year before next year’s event scheduled for Saturday, July 19th, 2025. You can find the funding application form online here.

Bull would like to express her gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this event happen.
