As of the nomination deadline on Friday, Aug. 21 at 2 p. m., there are 18 candidates who have officially entered the race for mayor, deputy mayor, and council.
The four candidates running for mayor are: David Bird, Stephanie Drummond, Isabel Anne Mc Rae, and Ed Mc Pherson. Jamie Dyer, Richard Schooley, and Catherine Schoular are in the running for deputy mayor.
Additionally, there are 11 candidates vying for five councillor positions. In Perth, councillors are elected at large, which means all voters can choose from the same list of candidates.
Lanarkist has shared detailed profiles of the four mayoral candidates and has asked each deputy mayoral and council candidate the same five questions. You can find their answers linked here as they come in. Lanarkist will update with any new responses received over the weekend before the election.
