Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking into a tragic incident where a motorcyclist lost their life in a crash southeast of London on Monday evening.
Emergency services arrived shortly after 5 p. m. following reports of the accident on Simcoe Street in Tillsonburg, located between West Town Line and Goshen Street, according to OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk during a public announcement.
Sanchuk explained that the motorcyclist collided with the back of an SUV, resulting in the rider being thrown off. The motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries but unfortunately passed away later, Sanchuk mentioned.
The driver of the SUV did not sustain any injuries. Authorities have not yet shared the age or name of the person who died.
As investigations continue, police are requesting anyone with dashcam footage or surveillance video from nearby businesses to come forward and share it with them.
Simcoe Street remained closed for several hours on Monday night between West Town Line and Goshen Street.
