Do you have a hidden talent for art just waiting to emerge? Maybe a little drink will help bring it out!
The Tillsonburg Lions Club is putting on an event on Nov. 24 called Pour and Paint that offers the chance to create your own painting while enjoying a special beverage.
“It’s $45 per person and includes a beverage as part of signing up, and we’ll also have some hors d’oeuvres through the evening,” said Lions President David Pipher.
Pipher has only been living in Tillsonburg for three years. He recently retired from emergency services but always had a passion for painting, which he started doing again after he retired. He and his wife are both active members of the Station Arts Centre. David focuses on portraits, while Vera enjoys capturing scenery.
<p“It's a social event,” he said, emphasizing that no prior experience is necessary. He mentioned that Paint and Pour is similar to other events where restaurants invite artists to guide participants in creating paintings.
“It’s a social event,” he added.
The Carriage House will offer a signature drink for this occasion, available in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. This event is open to those who are 19 years old or older. Pipher will guide everyone through painting a landscape, suggesting that they wear clothes they don’t mind getting paint on or use an apron.
Paint and Pour kicks off at 6:30 PM and wraps up at 9:30 PM. The aim is to finish the painting within this timeframe.
With a long history of raising funds for community projects, this event brings something new to the Lions Club’s efforts.
“This is something different for the Lions Club,” Pipher noted. “We’re trying to do different things in the community, get more involved.”
All proceeds from the evening will go towards the Helping Hand Food Bank, and participants are encouraged to bring along canned food donations.
