It’s always an exciting time when top-tier curling comes to The Rock.
The 99th edition of the Canadian men’s curling championship promises to be no exception.
You can catch every draw of the 2026 Montana’s Brier on TSN, TSN. ca, and the TSN App, beginning Friday night at 6 p. m. ET/3 p. m. PT.
St. John’s, Nfld., will host the Montana’s Brier for the third time, and it’s been since 2017 that provincial favorite Brad Gushue won his first of six record Brier Tankards in unforgettable style.
The 2026 Montana’s Brier marks Gushue’s farewell as he announced back in September that the upcoming season would be his last at age 45.
Beyond our local star, this year’s Brier features several intriguing storylines.
Defending champion Team Brad Jacobs is heading to St. John’s right after winning gold for Canada at Milano Cortina 2026. They can expect tremendous support throughout the week at Mary Brown’s Centre despite being Gushue’s main competitors.
Kevin Koe, a four-time Brier champion aged 51, is participating in his 14th Brier while two-time finalist Matt Dunstone aims to overcome past disappointments and secure his first Tankard.
Noteworthy rookie skips include Jayden King from Ontario and Braden Calvert from Manitoba, both with chances to push into playoff contention.
The format remains unchanged from previous years.
Eighteen teams will be divided into two pools of nine each, with the top three from each advancing to playoffs after round-robin play concludes. There won’t be tiebreaking matches; instead, head-to-head results will serve as the first tie-breaker followed by Last-Shot Draw rankings.
After that, the top team in Pool A faces off against second place in Pool B and vice versa during the playoffs’ opening round. Winners move directly to the Page Playoff while losers must compete against third-place finishers for a spot in the Page Playoff.
Once we know which four teams make it through, a regular page playoff will start up.
The championship match is set for Sunday, March 8 at 6 p. m. ET/3 p. m. PT with the victorious team earning a chance to represent Canada at the World Men’s Curling Championship taking place in Ogden, Utah from March 27-April 4.
Let’s take a closer look at this year’s teams and their stories ahead of Canada’s championship event.

What ensued were wild days filled with cheating accusations-officials pulling rocks out due “double touching”-and overall chaos around them!</پ
Most teams would have folded under such pressure but not Team Jacobs-they steadied themselves leading straight toward Olympic glory!

Club: The Glencoe Club in Calgary Canadian Ranking: 1 Brad Jacobs Brad Jacobs (Misper Apawu/AP) It’s safe to say Team Jacobs might be feeling more fatigued than anyone else in St. John’s this week.> Jacobs along with Marc Kennedy, Brett Gallant and Ben Hebert snagged gold in men’s curling at Milano Cortina 2026 by defeating Great Britain’s Team Bruce Mouat – ranked No. 1 globally – with a score of 9-6 during an exhilarating final match.> This was Canada’s first gold medal win in four-person curling since Jacobs and Jennifer Jones both took home gold back in Sochi, Russia back in 2014.> Kennedy and Hebert also earned gold medals during Vancouver Olympics in 2010 while Gallant brought home bronze alongside Brad Gushue four years ago during Beijing games.> Achieving Olympic gold against some fierce competition is tough enough when wearing Canada’s colors but even harder when facing challenges like what Team Jacobs dealt with during their time in Cortina.<پ
