THUNDER BAY – In Thunder Bay, you can participate in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election from your own home-though online voting isn’t open yet.
Voting online starts on Monday, October 19, at 10 a. m. and wraps up on Monday, October 26, at 8 p. m. Once it begins, you’ll be able to cast your vote anytime until the deadline. All times are according to Thunder Bay local time.
Your Voter Information Letter is essential
The City plans for Voter Information Letters to start arriving during the week of September 28.
This letter has your online voting access details and personal PIN, along with information about advance voting, polling places for Election Day, and accessibility options. Keep it close as the election date approaches.
Steps to vote online
You can use any internet-connected device like a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone-even if you’re not in Thunder Bay when it’s time to vote.
To prepare:
Locate your Voter Information Letter. Verify that your voter information is accurate. Once voting begins, head over to the website listed in your letter. Follow the instructions provided in the letter and enter your individual PIN for online voting.

If there’s incorrect information on your letter, you’ll need to fix it in person with ID at either City Hall or a voter-list revision location.
Upcoming help sessions will take place at Intercity Mall near the food court from October 6-9 between 10 a. m. and 7 p. m., and on October 10 from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m. Staff will also be available at the Thunder Bay Country Market on October 7 from 3:30 to 6:30 p. m.

<p To participate in municipal voting, you must be a Canadian citizen who is at least 18 years old by October 26 and either live in Thunder Bay or qualify as an eligible property owner or tenant-and not legally barred from voting.
