A mineral exploration consulting company in Thunder Bay is being acknowledged for its focus on health and safety.

Bayside Geoscience has received a silver award from the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) as part of the 2025 Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards.

<p. These awards highlight the health and safety accomplishments of small businesses with fewer than 50 employees that are independently owned and operated.

Bayside Geoscience shared the silver award with Ottawa Home Care Associates Inc., with both companies each earning $6,000 in prize money.

The gold award went to DESO Construction Ltd. from Caledonia, which received $10,000, while Simple Strokes Painting Solution Inc. from St. Marys secured the bronze along with $4,000 in prize money.

Bayside was recognized for its proactive leadership approach to health and safety.

“Over the past year they participated in initiatives, led committees and found ways to create channels for their teams to give feedback,” WSIB said in its assessment.

“As a result, they put into place a range of specialized health and safety trainings, with topics such as mental wellness, physical health and ergonomics that went beyond basic compliance.

“They also made changes to their procedures, like developing a standardized digital reporting form, resulting in faster incident reporting and fewer gaps in reporting.”

Founded in 2017, Bayside Geoscience provides various mining-related services including mineral exploration, geology, core logging, prospecting, mapping and sampling, soil sampling, project management, research personnel, and core cutting.
