The Ministry of Natural Resources reports that a fire in the southern part of Quetico Park is no longer a threat to public safety.
This fire started near Agnes Lake on July 20th and has burned 25,279 hectares; however, it is still not fully contained.
The flames have also crossed into Minnesota.
Fortunately, the fire hasn’t expanded in recent days.
As a result, the evacuation alert for the Saganaga Lake area along the Ontario-Minnesota border has been removed.
This region is well-known among canoeists who travel the route from Lake Superior to Lake of the Woods.
Despite this update, restrictions remain for other fires nearby.
