A teenager has been taken into custody, and authorities are searching for several other individuals following an assault that occurred in St. Catharines this past weekend.
Just before 8 p. m. on Friday, Niagara Regional Police received reports about a disturbance at Lakeside Park in Port Dalhousie.
“Witnesses reported several teenage females attacking another teenage female out near the snack shack located within the park,” said police.
Officers found a 17-year-old girl with injuries to her head and face.
Police identified and arrested one of the suspects, a 15-year-old girl from St. Catharines. Her identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
At this moment, police have not released any information regarding the other suspects.
“There have been other reports of disturbances at the beach in Port Dalhousie this year and 1 District has increased their uniform presence in the area with enforcement as the top priority,” police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
