The City of Orillia has deployed extra resources to help with flood control in the Cedar Island Road and Davey Drive area.

As lake levels keep rising into the weekend, both the Province and Simcoe County are assisting the city by supplying over 50,000 sandbags, a sandbagging machine, additional sand, and flood protection barriers.

Currently, there is no emergency declaration. Flooding remains limited to specific areas, and city crews along with extra resources will continue working day and night to pump out water and set up measures to prevent further flooding and safeguard nearby homes.

City water is safe:

The municipal drinking water system is safe. The recent rain and localized flooding haven’t affected the safety or quality of the city’s water supply. If your property relies on a private water source (like a well), you may need to take extra precautions if your area is impacted by flooding. Drinking water safety and floods.

The latest shoreline hazard watch from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority indicates that Lake Simcoe continues to rise. Increasing wind gusts on the lake can create waves that heighten the risk of shoreline flooding that’s already happening.

Reporting Roadway Flooding:

If residents notice flooding on local roads, they’re encouraged to report it to the City so that crews can respond as quickly as possible at orillia. ca/Service.
