On Friday, May 22nd, 2026, Margaret Florence (Fitzpatrick) Fraser of Millbrook, Pictou County, passed away peacefully.
She was born in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland on January 13th, 1940 to James and Isabelle (Badcock) Fitzpatrick.
Margaret spent her childhood helping out in her father’s general store and at the local library where she developed a love for reading. She practiced her Catholic faith and was educated by nuns, growing up with a strong belief in God.
In her younger days, she worked at a chocolate factory in Newfoundland and took on various housekeeping and caregiver roles from Boston to Halifax. She also worked at the Clairtone plant in Stellarton, where she met her future husband James Lester Fraser whom she married in 1967.
Mom took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved visiting local garden centres hoping to discover new plants for her collection. An amazing cook and baker, she treated her family to wonderful meals and sweets. She found joy in preserving fruits and pickling vegetables.
She taught us many valuable lessons about life-everything from hanging laundry on the line to the importance of forgiveness. Mom had a strong faith in angels and God’s plan. She enjoyed listening to Sunday mass, watching Coronation Street, and catching an occasional episode of Mr Bean.
With a good sense of humor and quick wit mixed with just a touch of Irish temper, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
We will remember her for her warm hugs and genuine interest in how everyone was doing-always concerned about her children and grandchildren.
She leaves behind daughters Marlene (Dale) Bomback from Lacombe, AB; Wanda (Chris) Hefler from East Mountain; Leona (Doug) Arnold from Mac Lellans Brook; Anita (Vince) Atwater from Gairloch; as well as son Carl Fraser from Lansdowne.
Her grandchildren Aaron and Dustin Bomback; Kayla and Brianna Hefler; Courtney and Jessica Arnold; Roland and Serenah Atwater will miss her dearly along with great-grandchildren Isabella, Aubrey, Raylene, and Grace.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 48 years James Fraser as well as half siblings John Tom, Susie, Maggie Fitzpatrick , and eldest granddaughter Brittany Panisiak.
The arrangements are handled by Eagles Funeral Home in Westville. Visitation is set for Friday May 29 from 1 to 3 pm with the funeral service following at 3 pm. A graveside burial will take place afterward at St. Andrew’s cemetery in Gairloch.
If you’d like to make donations instead of sending flowers please consider the palliative care unit at Aberdeen Hospital.
