If you care about democracy and want to help make sure this fall’s municipal elections run smoothly, the Town of La Salle has a chance for you.

They are seeking residents who would like to apply for a spot on the Joint Election Compliance Audit Committee.

This committee works together with municipalities throughout Essex County, making sure the election is conducted consistently.

“The committee plays an important role in the municipal election process by reviewing requests related to campaign finances for candidates and third-party advertisers. It may also look at reports from the clerk about contributions made during the election,” said a release.

Ideal candidates should have experience in accounting or auditing, be legal professionals, academics specializing in political science or public administration, or be familiar with campaign finance rules under the Municipal Elections Act.

If you’re interested in helping out, you can apply online. Applications will be accepted until Friday, July 17, at 4:30 p. m.
