York Region Public Health inspectors ordered Spauline Beauty on Highway 7 to shut its doors temporarily after finding the salon “operated in a manner permitting a health hazard.”
A beauty salon in Richmond Hill was instructed to close for a while after public health inspectors discovered several violations during an inspection last week.
Spauline Beauty at 125B – 372 Hwy. 7 was determined to be operating “in a manner permitting a health hazard” during an inspection on August 22. The salon – which offers facials, eyelash services, and hair removal – also had an “inadequate” supply of potable water.
Inspectors noted several other non-compliance issues. These included failing to provide written notification to public health about the intention to operate personal service settings at least 14 days prior to starting operations, not providing hot and cold running water under pressure, neglecting to ensure reusable equipment is cleaned as often as necessary to prevent disease transmission, and not discarding single-use instruments immediately after use.
The inspection reports only reflect the condition of the personal care setting at the time of the inspection and do not guarantee or warrant its condition at any other time, according to York Region Public Health.

Editor’s note: Spauline Beauty passed a public health inspection on August 28 and has since reopened.
