Authorities are looking into an incident where a pedestrian was hit and killed by a GO train in Richmond Hill on Friday night.
York Region police reported that the event took place at the Elgin Mills crossing, located east of Yonge Street and north of the Richmond Hill GO station, shortly after 6:30 p. m.
Details about what led to the incident have not yet been disclosed.
This tragedy resulted in GO Transit canceling the last two northbound trains on the Richmond Hill line that evening, forcing passengers to take shuttle buses to Gormley and Bloomington GO stations.
