A collaborative effort known as the Situation Table is once again uniting a solid network of community partners in Renfrew County, all focused on helping individuals and families who are facing situations that put their safety or well-being at immediate risk.
This initiative aims to identify and support those experiencing ‘Acutely Elevated Risk’ – scenarios where there’s a high chance of harm if no intervention occurs. The teamwork model links different agencies, allowing them to act swiftly when time is of the essence. By collaborating, partners can share information, coordinate assistance, and take effective measures to reduce risk and enhance outcomes.
The program strengthens early intervention strategies and helps fill gaps within the system. It’s co-chaired by Pembroke Regional Hospital (Mental Health Services of Renfrew County District Health Services – MHSRC) and Community Services at the County of Renfrew. It was relaunched on March 24 after being paused in 2024, with a successful kick-off meeting that included representatives from 13 organizations, such as:

“This relaunch is something worth celebrating,” said Sarah Selle, clinical director of Mental Health Services of Renfrew County. “Bringing the Situation Table back is an important step in how we support people and families when risks are high. When situations are serious and time matters, working together helps us act sooner and prevent harm. No single organization can do this alone – this initiative allows us to respond quickly and with care. It shows our commitment to working together as a community to keep people safe and supported across Renfrew County.”
It’s expected that the Situation Table will grow to include more partners down the line, further enhancing its ability to respond quickly, creatively, and compassionately to complex issues within the community.
The Situation Table meets each month but can be reconvened as needed, providing a steady space for partners to align their responses to urgent matters.
It’s essential to understand that the Situation Table isn’t directly available for public service. Referrals must come through participating agencies that pinpoint situations needing coordinated responses from multiple organizations. This keeps the focus on urgent cases where collaboration can have the biggest impact.
