48-Year-Old Man Faces Charges After Domestic Dispute

The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 48-year-old man following an investigation into a domestic incident.

According to a news release, police responded on June 19 after 8 p. m. to reports of a dispute involving two individuals in Cobden, located north of Renfrew.

A man from Chapeau, Que., has been charged after the inquiry.

The charges he faces under the Criminal Code include:

• Assault with a weapon
• Assault
• Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm
• Forcible confinement
• Dangerous operation
• Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
• Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – two counts
• Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused was taken into custody and is awaiting a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice. Police have stated that they will not disclose specific names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
