For five days, divers and officers searched a lake in the Ottawa Valley for clues related to a murder that took place three years ago.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wrapped up their search of Calabogie Lake on Aug. 8, having started early the previous week. Officials stated in a release that this operation was connected to the homicide case of Johnathan Logan, who was killed in Renfrew, Ont. in 2023.

“The OPP thank the public for their patience during this phase of the active and ongoing investigation,” officials mentioned, without confirming if anything was discovered.

This search followed after police released a video and put up a billboard requesting anyone with information about what happened on May 19 three years ago to come forward.

Logan, who was 41 at the time, was fatally shot inside a residence on Vimy Boulevard in Renfrew.

When police arrived at the scene, they found him suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds and he was quickly taken to the hospital. Officers noted that the suspect had fled before they arrived, along with several individuals who might have witnessed what occurred.

The suspect remains unidentified. Police believe from initial information that Logan was targeted and continue to urge people to step forward with any details.

Logan was an only child of his mother Catherine.

A $50,000 reward has already been announced by police for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Logan’s death. A video appealing for help featuring his mother asking for answers was also released in May.
