A man has lost his life after a motorcycle accident on Highway 401 in Pickering early Saturday morning.
As reported by the Ontario Provincial Police, the incident occurred at around 2:25 a. m. in the westbound lanes of Highway 401, situated between Brock Road and Westney Road.
In a video posted on social media Saturday, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt stated that the motorcyclist was allegedly speeding through a construction zone when he collided with an electronic sign and was thrown from his motorcycle.
Authorities identified the rider as a 22-year-old man from Scarborough. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are requesting anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward, and they have confirmed that an investigation is underway.
