Durham police say they are looking into a situation after “what appear to be human remains” were found in Pickering, Ont., on Tuesday.

Residents near William Jackson Drive and Taunton Road W. should expect a significant police presence on Tuesday as the forensic investigative services unit examines the scene, police noted in a social media update.

William Jackson Drive will remain closed between Taunton Road and Earl Grey Avenue “for an extended period,” according to police.

Police haven’t shared further details about the investigation in their post, stating only that updates will follow as they become available.
