Authorities report that one person has died and two others are hospitalized after a house fire in Peterborough early Wednesday morning.

Emergency services responded to a residential fire near Mc Donnel Street and Park Street North at 3:30 a. m., according to a news release.

Upon arrival, they discovered a 27-year-old man inside the home. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.

Two other individuals were also transported to the hospital for medical attention. The severity of their injuries remains unclear.

Peterborough police, along with the Ontario Fire Marshal, are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to reach out at 705-876-1122 x555 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
