Ontario Provincial Police report that they have taken a 67-year-old man into custody after a dog belonging to his neighbours was shot in Peterborough County.
Authorities say they received a call on Sunday morning from the dog’s owners, who mentioned their pet had been missing for about a week.
According to OPP, the family heard gunfire around the time their dog disappeared and believed their neighbour had shot and killed their pet.
Police confirmed that the dog’s remains have since been found.
After interviewing everyone involved, authorities charged the neighbour with killing or injuring animals.
The man is set to appear in court in September.
