Neighbour Charged After Family Dog Is Shot in Ontario

Ontario Provincial Police report they have taken a 67-year-old man into custody after a neighbour’s dog was shot and killed in Peterborough County.

Authorities say they were alerted to the situation Sunday morning when the dog’s owners mentioned their pet had been missing for about a week.

The family heard gunfire around the time their dog disappeared and suspects that their neighbour is responsible for shooting their pet.

Police state that the dog’s remains have now been retrieved.

After interviewing everyone involved, authorities charged the neighbour with killing or injuring animals.

He is set to appear in court next month.
