PETERBOROUGH, ON – Race fans in Central Ontario are gearing up for another exciting event this month as the Ontario Sportsman Series prepares for the Silver Wheel 100, presented by AF Automotive Fluids – Saturday, August 8th – at Peterborough Speedway.
During this popular group’s 19th season, around 25 different teams have participated in at least one race, with four different drivers securing a main event win. Tim Tolton is the most recent winner on the tour, claiming victory on Saturday, July 25th at Full Throttle Motor Speedway. Shawn Mc Glynn currently leads the points standings, followed by Kevin Trevellin – who celebrated his first career win at Peterborough in 2022 – Sean Mangin, Donavin Clark and Cooper Aubertin rounding out the top five.

A look back at series history reveals a strong connection between former champions and Peterborough Speedway. Connor James took home the championship title in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Former Central Ontario Mini Stock racer Brandt Graham earned the crown in both 2016 and 2017 after competing for three seasons under the Ontario Sportsman Series banner. He was also named rookie of the year in 2015.

This weekend’s Central Ontario racing action will feature not only the annual appearance of the Ontario Sportsman Series but also include local favorites like Bone Stock and Late Model divisions, along with Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series and KOD Disposal Ontario Bandoleros. Kid’s Barrel Races will provide an intermission attraction. Grandstand gates open at 5:00 PM with racing kicking off when Great Canadian RV waves the green flag at 6:00 PM.
