The Ontario government is putting $250,000 towards programs for seniors in the Peterborough area. This funding comes from the Seniors’ Community Grant program, which aims to enhance wellbeing and reduce social isolation among seniors. One of the recipients is the Activity Haven seniors’ centre in Peterborough, which is among seven organizations benefiting from this funding. The other groups include Selwyn Public Library, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes Northumberland and Haliburton; Havelock Belmont Methuen Seniors Senior Tech Connect; Peterborough New Horizons Bands and VON Peterborough Victoria Haliburton. Activity Haven will receive over $23,000 for its “Lift for life” program designed to assist seniors with osteoporosis.
