The Ontario government has announced an investment of over $6.1 million to enhance health-care services and infrastructure in Northumberland-Peterborough South.
This funding, revealed by MPP David Piccini, will benefit Northumberland Hills Hospital, Campbellford Memorial Hospital, and the Community Health Centres of Northumberland.
Northumberland Hills Hospital is set to receive a total of $4,583,613 in funding.
This amount includes $2,909,700 as extra base funding for 2026-27, marking a 3.1 percent rise from the last fiscal year.
Additionally, the hospital will get $1,284,713 from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund for upgrades such as a new cooling tower and $389,200 in Incremental Surgical Recovery Funding to help boost surgical activity.
Campbellford Memorial Hospital will receive $1,410,776.
This includes $1,116,700 in added base funding for 2026-27 along with $175,576 for infrastructure renewal and $118,500 for increased CT hours to enhance diagnostic imaging capacity.
The Community Health Centres of Northumberland are getting $189,070 through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund to upgrade their HVAC systems.
According to the province, these investments add up to a total of $6,183,459 that will support hospital operations as well as improvements in infrastructure and surgical care capacities.
Susan Walsh, CEO of Northumberland Hills Hospital states that this funding will address crucial infrastructure needs and meet rising demands like surgical services.
Jeff Hohenkerk , CEO of Campbellford Memorial Hospital says this investment will enhance clinical infrastructure and expand CT capacity while they continue working on plans for a new facility.
