An officer from the Peterborough County OPP has charged a driver after they provided a fake name during a stop. On July 8, 2026 at around 9:30 p. m., officers from the Peterborough County OPP were running a RIDE check in Ennismore. A vehicle approached the checkpoint, and the driver did not show their driver’s licence, opting instead to give verbal identification. After talking with the driver, the officer requested an approved screening device (ASD). The results from the ASD led to the driver’s arrest, and they were taken to the Peterborough County OPP detachment. Once at the detachment, it was found that the identity initially given was incorrect. Christopher Mc Glennon (age 56) of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON was arrested and charged with; • Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice • Operation while prohibited • Failure or refusal to comply with demand The accused also faced several charges under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The accused was held pending bail. The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
