Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has shared the news of nearly $90,000 in funding for Perth County.

This funding, as mentioned in a press release from Rae’s office, comes from the provincial government’s Rural Ontario Development fund. Rae’s office explains that this initiative includes “a $20 million investment by the province to strengthen local economies, support rural workers and assist communities in planning for long-term growth.”

In Perth County, Klomp’s Home and Garden is set to receive just over $8,600 for its Main Greenhouse Roadside Appeal project. Broken Rail Brewing will get a bit more than $300 for equipment and making their space more accessible.

Moreover, Perth County is receiving over $70,000 for tourism wayfinding signage, while the Perth Farmhouse will be granted $10,000 for diversifying their winery to attract visitors year-round.

The next application period for the Rural Ontario Development fund starts on August 17. You can find out more here: https://www. ontario. ca/page/enabling-opportunity-ontarios-rural-economic-development-strategy

“Strong rural communities are built through partnerships that support local businesses, encourage investment, and create new opportunities,” said MPP Rae. “This provincial funding will help Perth County and its local businesses build on the great work already underway, strengthen the local economy, and enhance the quality of life that makes our communities such great places to live, work, and visit.”
