A 34-year-old man from Perth has been charged following an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police into domestic violence.
The Lanark County detachment started their inquiry on Sunday shortly after 7:30 a. m., but when officers arrived at the home in Perth, an individual had already fled on foot.
Assistance from an OPP canine unit and Emergency Response Team members was enlisted for the search, and not long after, police reported that a man was taken into custody.
To protect the victim’s identity, the accused was not named. He faces charges including assault causing bodily harm; two counts of making threats; mischief; assault; failing to comply with a probation order; and animal cruelty.
Currently held in custody pending a bail hearing, he is set to appear in court in Perth at a later date.
