A man found on Highway 417 after a collision was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries early Friday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police reported they responded to calls about a pedestrian involved in a collision on Highway 417 at Bronson Avenue just before 3 a. m., according to a spokesperson from CBC.
Investigators found that two vehicles were part of the incident in the westbound lanes, while a pedestrian was discovered in the eastbound lanes suffering from life-threatening injuries, police stated.
Paramedics received a call at 2:48 a. m. regarding the eastbound lane of Highway 417, as noted by an Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson. They mentioned that paramedics transported a man in critical condition to the hospital.
The highway was briefly closed in both directions. The eastbound lanes reopened shortly after 3:30 a. m., and by 7:50 a. m., westbound lanes were also back open.
Police indicated that their investigation is ongoing.
An OPP spokesperson shared an image of a transport truck and mentioned that investigators believe it was “in the area at the time” and added “the driver may be unaware of the incident.” They urged the truck driver, or anyone who might have information, to come forward.
