UPDATE | Authorities are investigating a possible tornado north of Hawkesbury in Harrington, Que., around 5:40 p. m. on July 21.
Environment Canada has canceled the tornado warning that was issued earlier Tuesday afternoon for parts of Ottawa and nearby communities to the east.
As of 4:30 p. m., the warning covered an area from Russell to Hawkesbury. Earlier that hour, it had briefly included portions of Ottawa, setting off automatic alerts on residents’ mobile devices.
By 5 p. m., no warnings were active.
The region between Russell and Hawkesbury remained under a severe thunderstorm warning for a short time before it was also lifted.
