Authorities east of Toronto report that an officer and a suspect were shot while responding to a report of an armed individual in Oshawa on Sunday. Durham Regional Police indicated that officers arrived at the intersection of Simcoe Street South and Wentworth Street East. During the encounter, both the officer and the suspect were shot. The officer was rushed to a hospital in Toronto and is currently in critical but stable condition. The suspect was also transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
