A section of Farewell Street in Oshawa will be closed for several months.

The Region of Durham is working on repairing the damaged road, which will be shut down from Wentworth Street East to Harbour Road starting May 18 until December 2026.

Local traffic will still have access during this time.

There will also be lane restrictions on Farewell between Bloor Street East and Wentworth Street East throughout the project.

The expected completion date is September 2027, but bad weather might delay things.

Drivers will be redirected to Wentworth Street East, Simcoe Street South, and Harbour Road.

Businesses in the area will remain open during construction.
