Update: Just before 9 a. m., police reported that Highway 401 has completely reopened near Bowmanville Avenue. However, there may still be delays as traffic continues to clear.

Original story follows.

A section of Highway 401 was shut down on Wednesday morning due to accidents and flooding.

The eastbound lanes were fully closed at Holt Road, just before reaching Bowmanville Avenue, east of Oshawa, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

At 8:38 a. m., one left lane was reopened, police mentioned in their update.

The closures were caused by “numerous collisions reported and water pooling on the roadway,” stated the OPP.

Minor injuries were reported, according to police.

Police advised drivers to seek alternate routes.
