What’s Open and Closed for Civic Holiday on August 3

What’s Open and Closed for Civic Holiday on August 3

Civic Holiday is on Monday, August 3, in Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Clarington, and the whole Durham Region. In Oshawa, it’s known as Mc Laughlin Day.

Most stores will be open on Monday since it’s a government holiday but not a statutory one.

Here’s what you can expect to find open or closed:

OPEN

Big box stores and department stores Restaurants Convenience stores Movie theatres Grocery stores Pharmacies Cannabis shops Most breweries that typically operate on Mondays. It’s best to call ahead to confirm with your favorite. Oshawa YMCA Splash pads along with outdoor recreation trails and municipal parks Outdoor pools like Camp Samac in Oshawa, Orono Park in Clarington, and Ajax Memorial Pool Many municipal recreation centers and outdoor pools such as Camp Samac in Oshawa will follow modified schedules. Most tourist attractions will remain open except for municipally owned places like Pickering Museum Village.

Malls:

Pickering Town Centre, Whitby Mall, and Oshawa Centre will all be welcoming shoppers.

Beer Stores: Three Beer Stores will be open from 11-6.

Most LCBOs will have adjusted hours (11-6), since August 1 isn’t a statutory holiday. Customers should check the store locator feature for local hours at lcbo. com or via the mobile app.

CLOSED

Government offices Post Offices Most banks won’t be open. Libraries Waste transfer stations

TRANSIT

Durham Transit and PULSE buses will run on a holiday/weekend schedule. GO Transit will follow a Saturday schedule.

WASTE

Garbage and recycling collections will shift forward by one day. INsauga’s Editorial Standards and Policies
