July 31, 1939 – August 4, 2026

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Violet Ellen De Paola, who left us peacefully on August 4, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on July 31, 1939, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, she was the daughter of Mildred and James Fratton.

Violet enjoyed a beautiful marriage with her beloved Joseph for 68 years. They created a loving family and filled their lives with laughter and countless memories.

She found joy in simple things like shopping, sweets, and the color purple. Violet took great pride in cooking perogies and cabbage rolls and eagerly anticipated Sunday family dinners when everyone gathered to enjoy good food and each other’s company. Family meant everything to her; she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Violet will be fondly missed by her husband Joseph and her children Sam (Colette), John, Donna, along with her late daughter Eleanor.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her “Nunsie,” reflecting the special bond they shared. She proudly watched over Ashley (Ahmad) and Dustin from John and Julie; Anthony, Hope, and Cal (Edie) from Donna and Jim; as well as Troy (Nadia), Danielle, and the late James De Paola from Eleanor.

As a proud great-grandmother, she cherished Ellie Mae, Ryler, Isla, Kalli, Eleanor, Madeline, Josephine, Ashton, Zayden, Zackary, and Kole.

Violet was also sister to Cora, Mervin, Wiliam, and Ronald who all passed before her.

She will be remembered lovingly by her sisters-in-law Barb (Lynn) Barber , Lucy (Rocco) Marinaro , and Mary (John) Pender along with extended family members and friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kale , Dr. Rushton , NPs Sue & Arlene , and the nurses & PSWs at Wilkes Terrace for their kindness & support during this time.

Cremation has taken place , and a private family service will be organized later on.

In lieu of flowers , the family would appreciate donations to Wilkes Terrace if desired.

Joseph , her family , and all who had the chance to know her will miss Violet deeply.

Rest in peace our sweet Momma.
