October 15, 1939 – June 22, 2026
Terrence Richard Budd, aged 86, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospice surrounded by family. Terry was born in Newmarket, Ontario on October 15, 1939 to Bertram and Minnie and grew up with three brothers: Ken, Robert, and Don. He met Cathie while they were in school and they got married on December 28, 1962. Terry owned Budd’s Music Centre where he worked hard to build his business. Eventually, he, Cathie, and Danny moved to their beloved summer camping site in Kakabeka Falls where they built a home and embraced the rural lifestyle.
Terry had jobs at O’Connor Township and the Thunder Bay airport before starting Sutton Group Realty. Later on, he joined Re-Max Realty where he continued working until the age of 80. He loved forming friendships with many former colleagues like Eric and Vince as well as numerous past clients. Time spent with family and friends brought him joy; whether it was BBQs, fishing trips or camping adventures-and gardening alongside Cathie was always special for him too. Many cherished family memories were created with nephews Dan and Cary Connors who lived with them during high school years. Terry had a unique talent for training songbirds to land in his hand for a few seeds which always delighted him. His smile, kindness, generosity and loving nature will be greatly missed by all of us. We love you Dad.
Terry is survived by his grieving family: Danny (Jody), Amy, Crystal (Anthony), Jordan and Don (Marg). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives along with long-time best friends Anna, Joe and Gayle.
He was predeceased by his wife Cathie (2017), parents Bertram and Minnie as well as brothers Ken and Robert.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday July 11, 2026 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at the O’Connor Community Centre located on Highway 595. Interment will occur at a later date in O’Connor Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by EVEREST – WESTFORT CHAPEL at 420 West Gore Street at James. If friends wish to contribute, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Northern Cancer Fund or Toronto Sick Kids Hospital.
