Sergio “Serge” Casagrande passed away peacefully at Extendicare Tecumseh on August 26, 2019, at the age of 81. He was born on December 4, 1938, in Pasiano (PN), Italy to Luigi and Regina (née Giust). Serge made the journey to Canada during the 1950s. In Windsor, he thrived academically, earning his degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from W. O. I. T. His career included roles at NRC in Ottawa and Guardian Industries in Detroit. He also co-owned Controlled Systems in Windsor and spent many years working for Jackson Transformer in Tampa, Florida, as well as AMC in Rimouski, Quebec. Serge was an inventor who developed and holds 10 US and Canadian patents for electrical transformers and power supplies. He had a passion for computers, voltage meters, and capacitors. Besides his professional achievements, he was a wine enthusiast, soccer fan, world stamp collector, current events follower, traveler, but most importantly loved his family dearly. He is survived by his dear wife Evelyn (née Barrette), his loving children Mark and Wendy, and adored grandfather to Matthew, Aaron, Rachael and Jacob. He also leaves behind siblings Sante (Assunta) in Italy; Silvana (Vince Santarossa); Gino (Bette); along with Mark’s mother Beverly. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Danilo; in-laws Otto and Stella Barrette; Edouard Barrette; Juliette Comartin; but survived by Agnes Levesque (the late Luc), Beverly Barrette; Eugene and Madeleine; Marcella Jobin (the late Paul); Marcel Comartin; Ann Verhoeckx (the late Jan). We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the medical professionals who provided unwavering care over the years. A special shout-out goes to our amazing neighbors who have supported us throughout everything-Heather, Brian, Marg & Gary; Ashley; plus all of his PSW workers from St. Elizabeth Health Care, Para Med and Extendicare Tecumseh-thank you!
