1942 – 2026

With heavy hearts, we share the news of our dear father, Jean Marie’s peaceful passing on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the age of 83.

Jean was born in Amqui, Quebec and later settled in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where he created a life full of family, hard work, love, and many fond memories.

As the 13th of 16 children, family meant everything to Jean. He proudly worked as an Ironworker for Local 786 for 57 years and took immense pride in what he did. Above all else, Jean was a caring father and grandfather who valued those closest to him.

He is survived by his three loving daughters: Monique (late Adam), Danielle (Charlie), and Jaime; along with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His nieces and nephews adored him deeply. He will also be missed by his faithful furry friend, Pebbles aka Bubbles.

Jean is preceded in death by his beloved wife Judith Roy (nee Lalonde). He longed for her presence every day. In his final moments, he found solace knowing that his daughters were prepared to support one another. He passed away peacefully with family by his side.

We’ll greatly miss Jean’s easy-going nature, kind heart, and fantastic sense of humor. His laughter and stories will stay in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Sault Area Hospital staff including Dr. Vance as well as nurses Tracey and Chantal for their compassion towards our dad. Special thanks also go out to Dr. Buehner’s home-care team including nurses Theresa and Stella along with PSWs Evan, Shelley, and Michelle for their kindness during this time. Lianne and Steph your care has truly touched us; we are so thankful.

Though we are heartbroken right now, we cherish the years filled with love and laughter that Jean gave us. He will always be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, husband, uncle, and friend.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 30th at noon at the circle of trees near the waterfront at Bellevue Park. The family would appreciate any memorial donations made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been made through Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd., 705-945-7758). You can share fond memories or expressions of sympathy at www. northwoodfuneral. com

Rest peacefully Dad. You were loved more than you ever could have known.
Until we meet again.
