It is with great sadness that we share the news of Tannis L. Anderson-Bence’s passing. She left us peacefully on August 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Tannis was born in Richmond, British Columbia, and grew up in Surrey and later Delta as the oldest of three sisters. From an early age, she showed a passion for sports. She played soccer under the guidance of her mother, Diane, who coached her, and also enjoyed field hockey. Tannis had a special bond with animals and loved spending time with her grandmother on the family farm, where she helped care for sheep. Her love for animals continued throughout her life as she welcomed two rescue dogs and a cat into her home.
After finishing high school, Tannis pursued studies in hospitality. Her education and natural ability to connect with others served her well when she moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she played a role in establishing Jurys Hotel. Living in Scotland for over a year created many cherished memories for her.
When she returned to Canada, Tannis went back to her grandmother’s farm while studying crop management. She enjoyed working on the farm while also serving as a crop consultant. A dedicated worker at heart, Tannis took pride in everything she accomplished.
In 2017, Tannis decided to buy a tiny home in Delta for her farm property. It was during this journey that she met Michael Anderson through their neighbor Shannon Persse. After getting her tiny home set up, Tannis needed some carpentry work done, and Michael came to help out. What started as assistance blossomed into romance when they went on their first date together; from there on out, it was history.
After spending a year together in British Columbia, Tannis and Michael made the decision to move to Windsor, Ontario to build their life together. Tannis earned her real estate license which proved beneficial as she supported Michael’s business endeavors alongside working in insurance where she formed lasting friendships with colleagues.
Tannis will be remembered as someone who always prioritized others over herself. With a generous spirit, she spread love and kindness wherever she went. She truly cared about people and would go above and beyond to assist anyone needing help. A hard worker who loved cooking too-she found joy in preparing special meals for Michael without ever putting herself first.
The couple shared an enthusiasm for new adventures whether exploring business opportunities or enjoying weekend getaways together; Ireland held a special place in Tannis’s heart-she often dreamed about moving there someday with Michael.
After nine wonderful years together filled with joy and growth, they celebrated their marriage on March 17th of 2026-a day that marked one of their happiest moments together solidifying all they had built side by side.
Tannis leaves behind fond memories etched forever by those who knew her including her husband Michael; parents Shawn & Diane Bence; sisters Shannon (Warren) Roberts from Vancouver Island & Alannah Bence; nephew Raylen; nieces Riley & Madeline; grandparents Paula Bence & Elaine Whittaker; mother-in-law Iris Anderson-Pendergast along with brothers-in-law/sister-in-law plus their children-all of whom will miss having such an incredible person around them every day! Additionally dear friend Lindsay alongside countless others whose lives were positively impacted through knowing this amazing woman will remember all that made up “T.”
A devoted animal lover too, Tannis will be missed dearly by Rory the cat plus dogs Liam & Fintan as well-as Esme-the beloved feline companion who passed before leaving quite an impression during days spent within family circles!
The grandfathers Jack Bence & Gary Whittaker have preceded Tanni’s departure from our midst too- continuing onto brighter skies above..
Tanni leaves us inspired through lessons learned showing compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion towards both people&animals alike! Our hearts remain full holding tight onto memories shared…and carrying forward everything experienced amidst this lifetime…
