With great sadness, the family of Raymond Eugene Cousineau shares the news of his passing at 78 on August 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Raymond spent 60 wonderful years with his wife and best friend Margaret (Albano), raising two children, Lori Hugli (Paul) and Scott Cousineau (Tammy). He was a proud grandpa to Morgan Fleming (Justin), Leah Meloche (Hayden), and Josh Hugli (Kailynne), as well as a great grandpa to Elwyn Fleming. He is preceded in death by his dear parents Eugene and Irene Cousineau, along with his brother Roy. His siblings Gloria Freeman (Gord), June Catton (late Randy), Gerry Cousineau (Mariann), Janet Dupuis (late Rick), Margaret Carter (Bill), Mary Chernawski (Rick), Jim Cousineau (Cindy) will miss him dearly, as will many nieces and nephews. After marrying Margaret, Ray moved north to Sudbury where he started his career at INCO as an electrician in their Power Department. He later became the Superintendent of Mine Maintenance at Creighton Mine, which took him to Indonesia for a project rebuilding the power grid for the mine and town of Sorowako, Sulawesi. Ray and Margaret shared countless adventures together- he walked on the Great Wall of China, rode elephants in Thailand, snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef, cruised through Europe’s rivers, spent winters in Arizona, and admired the stunning Canadian Rockies. Yet despite all these travels, Ray’s favorite spot was always their family cottage on the French River in Northern Ontario. Ray had a knack for fixing or building almost anything and never hesitated to offer help or share his knowledge. He will be remembered for his wisdom and steadfast support for those who loved him. We’ll miss his warm hugs, sharing interesting facts from articles he read, spending time together at camp while boating or fishing or hiking-and let’s not forget about those famous Sunday morning pancakes. The family expresses gratitude to the care team on the 7th floor at Windsor Met Hospital. A special thanks goes out to nurses Emily, Jessie, and Melanie for their outstanding care during Ray’s final days. Cremation has occurred. Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Banwell located at 11677 Tecumseh Rd E in Windsor on Thursday September 3 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm with a service starting at 2pm in the chapel. A private family interment will follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens at a later date.
