A two-day initiative targeting unsafe commercial vehicles in Perth South led to 20 charges being issued.

Stratford police collaborated with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario for this safety blitz on Perth Road 113 and Perth Line 26 on April 20 and 21.

“These enforcement initiatives are an important part of keeping our roads safe and ensuring compliance with provincial regulations,” police said.

The majority of the charges, totaling 12, were due to overweight axles during a reduced load period. Two vehicles were cited for speeding and having unsecured loads. There was one charge each for an overweight vehicle breaching a permit, an expired permit, failure to show the annual inspection sheet, and non-compliance with emissions regulations.

Three inspected vehicles were also taken out of service, and two sets of license plates were removed after the vehicle status changed to unfit.
