Lino Pasquale Catroppa
We are heartbroken to share that Lino passed away on April 30th, 2026 at the age of 83 after a long illness. He leaves behind his loving partner and best friend, Margaret, along with their children Eugenia, Emily (Ritchie), and Olivia. He was the cherished son of the late Eugenia and Nino Catroppa and a devoted brother to the late Mario, Vincenzo, Carmelina, and to Mafalda, Luigi, and Alfio Catroppa (all of Rome). He was a beloved Nonno to Lina and Hanna and a treasured uncle to many nephews and nieces in both Italy and North America.
Originally from Italy, Lino was an expert restaurateur who started his culinary journey in Rome and Yorkshire before making Windsor, Ontario his home. He was a dedicated father who spent much of his free time with family. A gifted speaker and true gentleman, Lino had a talent for painting vivid pictures with his words. For over forty years at The Cook’s Shop and The Pasta Shop, he felt it was a privilege to share his love for fine dining with colleagues, friends, and customers alike. Prior to this role, he enjoyed managing Beach Grove Golf and Country Club as well as Cinecittà in Rome among other establishments across Rome, England, and Windsor where he continually refined his culinary skills. His kindness, generosity, and spirit will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew him; we will miss his beautiful smile deeply but will hold it dear in our hearts forever.
Visitation is set for Monday, May 4th, 2026 at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), located at 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) from 2:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. as well as from 7:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Prayers will take place Monday evening at 8:30 p. m. The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday morning at 10:15 a. m., starting from the Funeral Home then proceeding to St Angela Merici Church at 980 Louis Avenue for the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a. m. Cremation followed by private family interment will occur afterwards.
