We are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of Imelda Mognon, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, on May 15, 2026, at the age of 94.
Imelda was born on June 2, 1931, in San Martino di Lupari, Padova, Italy. She made her way to Canada in March 1962 to be with her husband. Together they created a life filled with love, faith, and family. Known for her caring nature and generosity, she always prioritized others’ needs over her own until the very end.
With open arms and a warm heart, Imelda welcomed everyone into her life. Her smile and accepting personality made each person feel unique. A skilled seamstress with 35 years of experience in both Italy and Canada, her greatest joy came from spending time with her adored grandchildren. Imelda’s deep commitment to family will always be remembered through the love and support she gave them as well as the warmth of the home she nurtured.
She was the cherished daughter of Domenico and Antonia Petrin (both deceased) and is now reunited with her husband of 62 years, Felice Antonio Mognon. She leaves behind two sons: Ettore Mognon (Ursula) and Dino Mognon (Nancy), along with five beloved grandchildren: Daniel, Alexa, Anna-Christina, Alexander, and Thomas. Imelda was predeceased by several siblings: Walter Petrin (Yvonne), Giovanni Petrin (Maria), Angelo Petrin (Leonilde), Milvia Quattoni (Orio), Egle Zambusi (Alvise) as well as sisters-in-law Maria Luisa Sidotti (Eugenio) and Orielle. She is survived by brother-in-law Luigi (Lucia). Many nieces, nephews, friends in Canada and Italy will also miss her dearly.
Imelda’s life was characterized by grace and compassion as she faced challenges with strength. Her warmth and unconditional love were at the core of her family’s bond; those who knew her will carry on her spirit of kindness.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the doctors, nurses, staff members at Windsor Regional Hospital – Met Campus as well as Hotel Dieu – T2B Palliative Care Unit for their outstanding care during this time.
